how often are growth ultrasounds wrong?

I went in for my growth scan at 35 weeks and they said she's measuring at 6 lbs right now! I was blown away because my son was born 6.12 lbs at exactly 40 weeks. I thought for sure she was going to be smaller than him because, well, I thought girls a born smaller than boys. Now I'm wondering how accurate these growth scans are? When I go in for my seceduled c-section at 39 weeks they said she will be about 8 lbs. 
Has anyone been told one weight and it was actually wrong? How many was spot on?

i'm 35 wks and they said my baby boy was 7 pounds & 1 oz, i feel like it's wrong but i too scared because i have 5 weeks left and my SO was 11 pounds and i don't want to push out a monster

My doula told me that ultrasounds can be 1-2 pounds off either way! I certainly hope so, as I am 37 weeks and my son is almost 7 pounds...I am extremely petite so I am already freaked out about him not being able to fit!

I begged my doctor for a 36 week growth scan, which they were happy to schedule for me when I went to my NST today. I had one at 32 weeks and he was estimated at 4.1 pounds, but I've been diagnosed with PIH, started taking blood pressure meds and had a really low PAPP-A early on so I'm getting nervous that he'll stop growing due to IUGR. I'm not sure if they're really accurate or not but I'm curious to see what the 4 week difference is!

They can be off. They said my son was like 7.5lbs but was 8 lb 1 oz the next day. Girls are not necessarily smaller than boys though. My 2nd (daughter) was 8 lbs 10 oz, so definitely bigger than her brother.

These measurements are not precise... I was told they are an estimate + or - 1lb easily

They estimated my second daughter at 8lbs, she was born the next day after scan weighing 6lbs 4oz... This time around, they say baby girl is measuring about 2 weeks ahead as of 34 week scan, but I'm not too concerned :)

Weight is just an estimation and can be wrong.  With ds, ob told me 7 lbs 18 inches.  When he was born, he was 9 lbs 2 oz and 23 inches.  I requested 1 more growth ultrasound as baby boy measurements during 2 trimester indicated big boy.  Midwife and ob are trying to tell me that he is now normal meanwhile feeling and seeing various body parts on the outside.  Vbac so I rather have 1 more to make sure that if plans need to be adjusted that we do it now rather last minute.

With my first I was told she would be 9lbs and was 8lbs exactly and was 7.3lbs when we left the hospital. They're saying this one will be 8.5-9lbs, but I opted out of the growth scan because everything has been fine. I've heard they are within a pound or two either way(up or down). It sucks bc I only brought 3m clothes to the hospital the first time and my baby was in newborn for 3 weeks and didn't have any bc I was always told she would be bigger.
