Anyone else test positive for Group B Strep??

I got my test results and tested positive for GBS and am kind of stressed about it! Anyone else going through the same??

I'm positive as well. I think it's something like 25% of women are. It doesn't bother us at all but could hurt baby so you get two doses of IV penicillin while in labor. The biggest thing about that is to ask for or take probiotics or eat yogurt afterwards to ward off thrush or a yeast infection.

My doctor told me since I tested positive to not dilly dally at home and try to labor at home so I could get on antibiotics for at least 4 hours before the baby comes

Just tested positive. Just have to be given antibiotics during labor and delivery.  I was concerned at first because I'm allergic to penicillin, my doctor suggested an alternative antibiotic. I was worried at first, but the doctor assured me it would be fine. Good luck!

Is it possible to get a false negative ? I was told I was negative but man I'd hate to have a sick baby afterwards because of false results...

I tested positive, it's our first baby. Not thrilled about being hooked to an IV pole, but will do what is necessary to keep my little girl safe. You'll be just fine. 😃

Not meaning to down on anyone, but this is a bigger deal than most of you realize..... yes most of the time everything is fine but things can go wrong, I had gbs with my first daughter but I tested negative and she got very sick from it. As long as you receive antibiotics it will usually be fine but baby can still have a small chance of getting sick from it, if you notice anything at all off with baby please make sure you tell your dr. I'm sure everything will be fine, it just gets to me when people make it out to be nothing when it can be something very serious so make sure you tell the nurses when you go into labor you need antibiotic!

I also tested positive for this. It's nothing to worry about as long as you are given the antibiotics before birth you should be perfectly fine and so should your baby (: my doctor assured me everything is going to be fine and it wasn't a big deal!

I had group b strep with my first ...and there really is nothing to worry abouttheygive yuh some antibiotics and yuh and the baby will be fine. In due November 14 and I was told if yuh have it in the first pregnancy good chance yuh will have it again. But I'm waiting on my test results now ...but yuh will be ok Good Luck

I had it with my first daughter and I have it again. Don't stress, they'll give you iv fluids when you go into labor and everything will be fine

I tested positive too and was told the same stuff as everyone else. I was also told to not Google much about it due to the horror/worst case scenarios. I asked today if I should come sooner than usual when contractions start to be sure I get the antibiotics and she said just go with the usual guidelines for that. No extra rush. Even if I have a fast labor(FTM so not very likely) baby will be closely monitored after birth with blood tests to keep checking for infections. I feel a lot better about it all now.
