menstrual cup?

My period has been EXTREMELY heavy. It's coming out in huge clumps and I'm either bleeding through super plus tampons and overnight pad in less than an hour. I'm thinking about getting a mentrual cup. Has anyone used one? What do you think?

Your periods sound exactly like mine. I will go through a super tampon AND pad in 1-2 hours my first couple of days. I started using a menstrual cup last month and finally got the hang of it the last two days (there is a bit of a learning curve). I think it is the best thing ever and I will never ever go back to tampons.
I won't go into all the fun details of a cup, but once you get over the ick factor and figure out exactly what you're doing, it is awesome and now I think I will be able to go at least 3-4 hours instead of 1-2.
And take a look at putacupinit.com. It may be helpful in deciding which cup to buy. I bought the Diva Cup first and it was not quite right for me so I after I took their quiz, I decided to go with the Lena cup. Much better.

I've been using one for the last 3 months. The first attempt I couldn't get it then I figured it out the next round, I love it because my periods are so heavy. Like for example I was on vacation to Disneyland and my period came that morning. I put the cup and and I'm gold for 12 hours! It's easiest I find to clean and reinsert in the shower

Here's the deal...I can go through a super plus tampon in 2 hours or less on my heavy days. Those days I can go without emptying my cup for 3-6 hours. It's not messy at all, it's cost effective, environmentally friendly, and waaaay better for your body than tampons (chemicals/fragrances/etc added can make your period heavier and cramps worse) as cups can't result in TSS either. I seem to see a lot of negative opinions/advice on the cups from people who have never used one and it's seriously damaging to the cups image. I wish I'd found out about them sooner, but I've had mine for 5 months and I haven't ever leaked, I play sports, I swim, I work 8 hours a day and never have I had to empty my cup in a public restroom. I've been able to empty it in the morning when I wake up and then: on heavy days empty it when I get home from work/running around or empty it later that night in the shower. The cup is amazing!

I've personally looked into menstrual cups and the biggest thing I hear is that they are seriously messy. I can't imagine trying to use one in public. I usually go through a super tampon an hour on my first day. But not much longer. Honestly if I were you if just stick to tampons. They are more sanitary
