Is it really THAT painful?! I have heard HORROR stories!

I have had two and did not find them to be painful. Caused a bit of cramping after but really didn't hurt.

It's uncomfortable but you have to realize it's only going to get worse once you're in labor anyways. Try and stay relaxed during it and it will help. I had two done and the first was worse than the second bc my cervix was only open a fingertip but the second one I was 2cm. I went into labor 5 days after the second sweep

My first sweep was uncomfortable, but wasn't bad. A week later, I had another done and it didn't bother me at all. Btw, 3 days after my second sweep, my first son was born at 39+3!!

My first one was uncomfortable but it really lasts for only a couple of seconds, each one after that didn't hurt at all.

It was a little uncomfortable like the dr was checking you roughly but not too bad. I wasn't told she was going to do it. I was 40 weeks and after telling me I was 2cm again for the second week. She told me to take a deep breath then she stripped my membranes. It didn't do anything, at my next appointment I was still 2cm. My induction was scheduled for 41+1 weeks.

I had it done and it hurt a bit initially but no pain after. I did bleed for an hour or so. 3 days later my water broke!

I had one with my eldest and it wasn't at all uncomfy. Id never had an internal before that or even a swab there or anything before it so I was so worried but didn't hurt at all. I did get a mini contraction during it but wasn't anything major. I had mine on a Sunday morning and had my daughter Thursday morning so defiantly works

Do you have to request a sweep? I'm 38 weeks and the Dr hasn't mentioned it.
