Should I get a 3D ultrasound??

Question

So here is my situation...
I'm not strapped for cash so the $100 to have it done won't be a huge deal but I am also pretty picky with what I spend my money on. I paid for an ultra sound at 17 weeks to find out his gender early but it was only a 2D one because he wouldn't be developed enough at that time to make the 3D ultrasound worth it. Then at 20 weeks I had another 2D ultrasound at the hospital so they could make sure he is healthy and developing correctly (which he is!!! 😊) 
Well, I miss seeing my little man but I just want everyone's opinion of having a 3D ultrasound done? 
Also, can you have too many ultrasounds? Can it be harmful and should I only do it if necessary?

No, having too many isn't harmful. I'm high risk and at 29weeks I've had 6 so far and starting next week I will have one done every week. Having a 3D one is so worth it. It's exciting to see more of their features and having those pics are priceless. Here a some 2D pics compared to a 3D pics  f my little girl

Wait, when you go to your ultrasound appointment, you can ask for a 3D? Is it free? Or they'll do it if you pay!?  Also how much it is? Or you have to go to a particular place to get it done ?

Ultrasound poses no risk. I'd get one. Definitely one of the best parts of pregnancy.

If you like the look of the 3D ultrasounds, you should absolutely do it. I'm not a fan of the look of them, and I figure since I find out the sex early, I should at least leave baby's facial features a surprise.

I've had a couple 3D ultrasounds, they disappointed me because of the way my baby was sitting- the ultrasound tech couldn't get a clear image of his face. It's a total hit or miss

I will never do an ultrasound at one of those boutique places in the strip malls. Their equipment isn't held to the same calibration and maintenance regulations as medical facilities and their techs are also not required to have the same certifications. From what I have read ultrasounds are safe when done by professionals on well-maintained equipment, but can cause distress to the baby if done improperly on shoddy equipment.

I was going back and forth as well, we had 12 week and 20 week ultrasounds but my doctor said I probably won't have another one as everything is on track.  I ended up booking one for tomorrow at 32 weeks, it's $60 but only ten minutes and you get two photos, but I figured I just want a little sneak peak at her anyway.

My doctor said that it is safe as some high risk pregnancies are getting ultrasounds every month

I thought the same thing when I was considering getting my 4D video done. I think it's definitely worth the money! It made us much more excited. It's a very cool thing to see!
