if you're late, you can't go to class
That's basically the rule at my school... If you're late, then you get IS for the rest of the day or only one class. IS is internal suspension where you basically sit in a room doing nothing or writing down 50 times "I will not be late to class again" until you're told to leave.
Last year, I just walked into the classroom as the bell rang and the teacher sent me to go get a late pass. I went to the room, but they told me the office was somewhere else, so I walked there and they told me to go back to that room and I was basically walking to random rooms for 5 minutes. When I finally found the room I explained to them what happened, and instead of expecting my pass to go back, I was told to sit until class was over.
Now I can somewhat understand if they didn't believe the story I told them since I'm sure people have used that as an excuse before.
But what do you guys think about this rule? If a kid is late to class, do you think it's right for them to keep them in a room and learn their lesson? Or should they just give them a pass and let them go back to class?
