Elective Induction?

My SO is 8hrs away at college and he plans to come when I'm in labor. But I honestly don't think he'll make it. He loses service often or can't always answer his phone because of school and work. I'll be 39+1 next Friday. Will it be wrong/selfish for me to ask my OB at my appointment tomorrow if he can induce me next Friday so my man can be here the night before?

I was induced at 39wks with my 2nd child and wound up being in labour for 38hrs! Your body may not be ready.

I wouldn't, but you aren't me. If you do, make sure you are well informed about what an induction vs. going into labor naturally will likely be like. Make an informed decision based on your needs.

my doctors office also has elective induction &&I you don't have to be 40 weeks don't listen to anyone do what's best for do what's going to make you happy all these girls on here always want to bash someone , your full term once you reach 37 , I'll say go for it

Can't you just call his college. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you leaving a message that you're in labour

Probably not unless there was a medical issue. But it doesn't hurt to ask.  Usually they only schedule for 1 to 2 weeks past the due date.
