Myths about sperm

DEBUNKING MYSTERIES ABOUT SPERM:

  • Sperm does NOT die once exposed to air. It only dies once it is completely dried out.

  • Once sperm is completely dried out, it cannot be "revived" after being remoistened. Once it's dead, it stays dead.

  • Sperm can live inside of a woman for 3-5 days after insemination, which is why it is so important to take a Plan B pill after unprotected sex if you are afraid of an unplanned pregnancy.

  • Sperm does not only have to be inseminated via penis. If someone releases semen onto their hand or a sex toy and inserts it into your vagina, it is just as good as the penis inserting it itself. So always make sure to wash your hands in between acts in order to avoid implantation.

  • While it is not technically illegal to inseminate yourself with your partners sperm without his permission, no clinic will inseminate you with his sperm unless he gives his permission.
