UK Women please help!?

Question

I'm pregnant with my first baby and currently work full time but come February will be on maternity leave (£139.58 per week)

My partner has just gone self employed and has an 'okay' income but we are a little concerned about what we can afford in terms of our rent and cars etc.

My question is in; the UK what can you claim on top of maternity pay if you're employed and your partner is self employed?

Any advice or help will be much appreciated.

If you go online there is a benefits calculator and put in all your details and it will tell you what your entitled to xxxxx

Think it actually all depends on how much he earns. I've just gone on mat leave and when i check the gov website for tax credits we're not eligible because it goes on my actual wage not my stat mat leave pay as well as my partners wage. You will definitely get child benefit which is £20 a week for your first child. Maybe look on the government website for more info as what you can claim varies depending on circumstances

I wish we got some type of income in the USA for maternity leave. At this rate I'll be working till my baby is coming out and then we only get the 6 weeks if me and my so can even afford that. I hope everything works out for you

My hubby was made redundant when I was on mat leave and we weren't entitled to anything as my full time salary is over 26k and your p60 from April is what they go on. Even now we're not entitled to a penny and we are struggling to feed ourselves rubbish system!
