My son was born on the 12th if October so he's a little over a week old now. We were induced at 37 weeks exactly due to me having type 1 diabetes. My first son was induced for the same reason and had zero problems and was able to come home in two days. Well my second son is now in the NICU due to him just being lazy and not wanting to eat by the breast or bottle normally. Which I know is normal, but we were making progress with everything breathing is normal, his temp is normal all on his own he was starting to take milk by breathing and bottle slowly but surely. But we have been having other issues with nurses and doctors not communicating properly like he was suppose to get dropped down to 22 calories at every feeding so it wasnt so hard for him to drink 24 in hopes he would start eating more as told to us by the doctor then 2 days go by and I ask if he's been doing good with it and the nurse is like oh well in the computer he's still on 24 calories not 22. So she calls and they had it wrong it was suppose to be 22. So that's two more days behind schedule we are. And now we went up there last night and I walk in and he's under a warming lamp and within 4 hours of us being gone he randomly now has and infected umbilical cord so he had to get an iv put in and it will be 7 days before the meds are ran through... I just don't understand how an infection can happen in the hospital when it usually happens at home because of improper cleaning or care but in a NICU???? Like what is going on. I'm so tempted to transfer him but if this is normal and just a common thing I don't want to make a huge scene but I feel like he is not getting the proper care that he should. I feel so lost and hopeless he was perfect weight and just seems so perfect to come home besides the eating which I understand but now to be set back a whole other week I just have zero idea what to do... :'(
