first time pumping? help!

Hi everyone I need a bit of help I'm going for a small operation in a few days and I will need to stay overnight in hospital,
I've been EBF now for 3 weeks so I bought a pump today so that my husband can feed  our son when I am away.

I don't even know how to do this? Should I pump after DS eats or before? I've no idea!

Pump after feeding baby.  That way he is always fed.  I usually only feed from one boob at a time, so I pump the one he just ate from.  That way, the other one is still ready for baby.  You may not get much at first, but keep doing it.  Eat oatmeal, almonds, stay hydrated.  Drink water while pumping.  If you can, pump while in the hospital.

There's no perfect time to pump when you're still breastfeeding. I recommend just trying it out to see how much you get...if baby gets hungry right after pumping you'll just have to feed him what you just pumped...to increase supply, you would want to pump after feeding baby.

You should pump after and try to introduce the bottle because he may not take it or only like a certain kind.
