baby shower for second baby?

I've heard mixed opinions about this... some say baby showers are just for the first baby unless they are really really far apart... some have one for every child.. what do you think?

I hate all the rules that society un necessarily puts on celebrations. Celebrate the birth of your children the way you want. Call it what you want and have it however you want. Truly! Don't listen to others everyone has an opinion and all it will do is bum you out. Do whatever brings you joy and you feel is appropriate to celebrate the new little one do it and do it proudly and without regret :) and call it whatever you want to shower, sprinkle, sip and see, PARTY who cares lol :)

I had never heard you only had one for the first until yesterday when my grandmother said you only ever have one for your first....personally I feel like that almost makes it seem as though the pregnancies that follow aren't being considered as important or something idk....

Baby showers are to celebrate a new life not for gift and gifts should never be expected and we believe every baby should be celebrated... my kids will be 10 months apart and I just had my 2nd baby shower my SIL had 6 babies in 8 years and had baby showers for them all.

I'm having one for my second. My first was a boy and this one is a girl. I don't see what the big deal is about having a shower for babies who aren't your first. Diapers, wipes, bottles, are always needed whether first pregnancy or fifth. You are celebrating a new life as well. Its a chance to have friends and family together to show support and excitement with/for you! If you want one, have one. If someone is offended by the fact you are having a baby shower for your second child I personally think that's ridiculous and they don't have to come.

Baby showers are for parents and baby to be prepared and to have fun. Doesn't matter if you have a second baby. You can still have another one. The second baby still needs stuff!

Iv had one for all 3 and will have a small one for this baby . It's a celebration for the child not the mother . Why should other babies miss out cause we have them close in age ? Of course don't expect gifts but just have everyone together to share the experience
