Breastfeeding as a birth control?

Question

I never really thought of LAM as an actual form of birth control but planned parenthood and other sources consider it one but have strict guidelines for it. What do you think? If you are EBF, would you say you are covered? I'm not considering it, I want to go on the mini pill but I'm just wondering how many people say it works

And remember it's only more likely to be effective if you nurse for EVERY meal!! Pumping doesn't have the same effect so the method isn't effective if you pump. My doctor said it has something to do with the baby's saliva (similar to how our milk changes when they're sick).

I can't believe it's even classed under birth control form.. unreliable to say the least- I know soooo many mothers who have said " we though because I was feeding...." errrrrr.

I couldn't get pregnant until I completely weaned my two year old, so it would probably work well for me. But I wouldn't risk it and would use something more reliable. I don't want any kids too close together in age. 🙈

It works IF done correctly. It's rarely done correctly hahaha therefore use other forms of birth control if you are trying to avoid pregnancy! (:

I'd only use it if you are okay with the possibility of getting pregnant....if not I'd choose something more reliable.

With my oldest son, I sat around at home EBF him, ate extremely healthy and I didn't get pregnant until he was 22 months. So worked fine for me. Hubby and I weren't all that worried about it tho.

Won't work for me as I got my period at five weeks post partum.  So condoms it is.

My sister exclusively breastfed and was on the mini pill and ended up pregnant. I do not think that breastfeeding is a good birth control at all!
