Rib Pain

My ribs hurt so badly that I can only lay on my right side. Which is making getting comfortable even more difficult. They hurt so bad on my left side. When I move, cough, breathe heavily. My MIL keeps saying this is just part of it. But it doesn't feel like it's "just part of it." Is anyone else experiencing this? And it's not from him kicking them. He doesn't favor that side or kick me in the ribs a lot. I'm not sure what it is...
