child birth classes ?

Question

I heared many opinions about child birth classes... are they worth it? Or can I do without? 
In NYC the average cost is $400 (!) for 3-4 classes.. so expensive! 
Do you think instead I can just watch free videos online?

I suppose it depends on the type of information you are looking for. Is it a class based around the facility you will be birthing at? For instance, with my first I took a class offered by the hospital I was birthing at. They have us tons of information about the policies, etc about the hospital, a tour, told us what to expect. Plus the basic birthing stuff, etc. If the class you are taking will give you that kind of information and you want it, then hell yes go for it. Better to be over protested and know your facility whether hospital, birthing center, whatever. 
I also think there's something wonderful about being able to be in a room full of women all due at the same time as you. They are all going through the same thing as you and many times you can meet great friends that way. Having that support can be just as valuable as the knowledge you'll gain.

I just took the child birth classes at the hospital I am giving birth. Thy call it Lamaze classes .we had to pay 40 dollars for both me and my husband and they were day and a half longer so it was 9 am to 5 pm and another day was 6 to 10 . Also I think it is helpful even if u have different plan of birth. You get to know the birth techniques . And they tell ur husband or the companion how he or she can support you during the whole process . Well if money is not an issue then it is worth to try but I myslef would not do it for 400 dollars 💵... Thts a lot of money 💰 ... in ur case watch the YouTube or online videos .hope this is helpful
