How to repaint a cot?

Question

I've been given a really expensive nice cot but I really don't like the colour. It's like a varnished oak effect.

How can I recolour it? Do I need to sand it down and then repaint it? Could you share your experiences if you've done this before? Thanks!

Oh I love an upcycle project lightly sand to remove any varnish so its Matt and paint will stick use chalk paint, two coats allowing it to dry inbetween each coat, lightly sand and then wax.

Easy peasy   You just need to give it a light sand all over. Wipe it down. 1 coat of white primer. Then a couple coats of your Fav paint. If you don't want to prime I advise using annie sloan chalk paint as this seems to stick very well. The duck egg white and French grey is lovely.

You'll love it one your all done. Such a great feeling.
