So confused

So I was supposed to start my period October 6 October 9 thru 12 I had light spotting(brownish/black it wouldn't fill a pad and one day I'd have the next I wouldn't) I decided since my period hasn't arrived to take a test today 2 anxious minutes later I see that dreaded negative......... What's going on with me
