If you're sent a wedding invitation with no +1 option but you are seriously dating someone is it ok to ask if +1 is an option?

I'm just curious. I've been invited to 3 weddings coming up in the next 6 months and my rsvp always just says party of one yes are you coming or no are you not coming. I've been dating my SO for 8 months and it's very serious. I can understand the stress and expense of a wedding but I was wondering if it would be considered rude to ask if I'm allowed to bring my SO

Depends how well you know the couple. If it's family I might ask, anyone else no.

I just got married a month ago. If someone had asked me if they could bring someone, I would have been more than happy to say yes, and very grateful that they asked me beforehand. But I also don't get hung up on that stuff, and I wanted everyone to have a good time. I know some brides/people are hyper-strict about those things, to the extent that they may get angry if you even suggest extra guests. I would consider who you are asking-- how close you are and how strict they seem-- and then go from there. But I think it's perfectly understandable for you to want your SO there with you.

Maybe you could ask but offer to pay for your date's plate?  We had someone do that... in the end we had enough cancellations that we told him to just bring his date :-)

They probably aren't planing for an extra which would be why they didn't say plus one.  Weddings are expensive I'm playing one right now.  But if it's a close friend or family just ask if your SO could come.  If it's someone from work I'd say just go alone or don't go.

I said no but the question isn't laid out clearly. Your title asks one question and than the description asks another. Anyhow, I think you should ask, it's not rude to ask,  it be rude if you showed up with him without asking
