Talking about weight loss around your child okay?

Allison
Do you guys think it's okay to talk about trying to loose weight around your children? Now, I know when I say this there's going to be a lot of "it depends" (at least I'm assuming). My personal experience from this is that growing up my mom has always tried loosing some weight. She's never been the slimmest, and when I was a kid she had a personal trainer. After my dad died, when I was 9, she had gained a lot of weight (understandable). For at least as long as I can remember she's always been that person who talks about how she needs to loose weight, but never really did much about it. She never works out, but instead would try things like weight watcher, slimgenics, weight loss supplements, etc. Around my puberty years is when I was exposed most to this. When my body was changing & I had the lowest self-esteem I've had within my lifetime (so far). I was being raised by someone who almost obsessed over losing weight (obsessed over the idea & talking about it, not actually losing it). Now I'm 18, and my mom constantly is making comments about how I'm too thin. I'm cold? It's because there's no enough "meat on my bones" I'm feeling sick? Because I don't eat enough. Let me tell you I eat a fair amount of food I feel, but I'm actually surprised I haven't gained as much compared to how much I eat. Sorry that last part kind of got out of topic, but back to the original question. I just wanted to know your guy's opinions on this subject? Personally I think that it's important to teach your child how to love their own body and living a healthy lifestyle (exercising & eating right). However I am not a parent & not planning on being one for a few more years so I don't know how much of a say I have on this.
