HELP baby's skin

HELP my sons skin.. he's 7 weeks old , these bumps on his face started as just small red bumps all over I thought it was normal & just baby acne but it got worse & progressed into the bumps you see on the photos , his dr apt is coming soon , but I was wondering if any of you moms knew what this was , I know you're not supposed to put anything on a newborns face but I feel like something needs to be used bc it's not going away..seems to be getting worse any suggestions would be great thanks.
