How do I get rid of lice?

I just saw head lice in my 10 year old head! I am completely freaking out! I am pregnant and at bed rest and I'm not sure how to deal with all this! How do I get rid of it? She never had lice before.😧

You could try mixing in tea tree oil with her shampoo. There's lice treatment shampoos. Combs that have treatment and electric currents that kill her. Wash all the sheets, blankets, pillow cases, stuffed animals, etc. Vacuum her room, any room she's been in, the furniture, etc. I would also wash your bedding and out tea tree oil in your shampoo as well. You'll have to go through her hair and pick out all the eggs and dead lice and put them in lice treatment, because the eggs will stay in her hair if you don't get them out. Also, report it to the school so they can notify parents and get the infestation under control so she's not at risk getting it again.

I know if you put mayonnaise and put a bag on her head for hours if not over night it helps. My nieces use to get it a lot.  And we used mayonnaise and it helps the knits and bugs come out when combed. It's a pain and if not taken care of, a disaster when it gets out of hand.

The original brownish listerine works too. I had lice back in middle school and I used listerine and then she took lice combs (like flea combs) and combed them out my hair. I have very think hair so it's a process. Repeat it again the next day/night. Also throw out or boil all brushes and combs and hair ties etc! The eggs can live on them.
