Should pregnant women use Dopplers to listen to baby's heartbeat at home????

My midwife told me that the dopplers are extremely loud for the baby in utero and can cause discomfort / mild stress.  She said that's why they tend to jump around so much when you use them.

No, because I once used the one in my drs and literally searched all over my stomach (they left me in the room for a long time and I'm a curious person), I couldn't find his heartbeat. I freaked out a bit, my Dr then came in ten mins later and found his heartbeat within a couple seconds... After that, I never wanted to use an at home Doppler. 😕

I did with both of my kids- usually 2x a day until I felt movement. I usually just did it long enough to get a reading and that was it. I looked forward to doing that! (You need to know where to look and what to listen for though)

I Do. My doctor gave me the green light and I use it judiciously (only for a minute once in a while). As long as you're not the type to freak if you can't find baby for a day, they can be an incredible stress reliever!

I did with both my kids! You just need to remember to NEVER self diagnose. If you think something is wrong always go with your gut. And also remember it's normal for it to take a while to find the heartbeat in the first trimester!

Why not?? It's the best way to not worry until baby starts moving regularly.
