your experience with depo?

Going to the gyno tomorrow and I'm thinking about getting the depo shot. However it sounds really scary. I read that if you experience side effects, the side effects don't wear off until the vaccine wears off, which is 3 months.

I was on the pill a couple years back and experiences weight gain, it also killed my sex drive. Are these things any of you ladies have experienced with the depo shot?

I've been on it for 7 weeks now and I only get headaches but that could also be lack of sleep, lack of food or the hormone change of having a baby. I'm ebf so I haven't gained any weight I'm sure I'd lose weight if I payed off the sweets. Just talk to your doctor and ask about all the pros and cons of all the birth control options.

Don't get depo!!! I gained 30lb and kept my diet the same. I'm also having fertility issues that I didn't have before depo.

Was terrible got it when I was 17 stopped my cycle all together. Then gained a bunch of weight and after stopping the shot. my cycle never came back had to go to the doc and they gave me hormones to restart my cycle. And had weight problems ever since then.

No depo!!! It has bad side effects! It's suppose to stop ur period and made mine so heavy and nasty! My obgyn(my new one) said she only recommends it if you never want kids because it meant to be on for a long time!

Ask about the nuvaRing! I loved it! You take it out and put it in every 30days. It regulated my periods perfect and made getting pregnant after so easy bc my period were perfect!

Don't do it. First the weight gain, yuck. Then the other side effects of possibly delaying TTC. And my biggest qualm is something they don't tell you. It blocks estrogen. Well if you're on the depo shot for greater then 2 years you then have a high risk of osteopenia and osteoporosis because estrogen helps store calcium into bones. Same theory with menopausal women, their estrogen levels decrease and their bones get worse. Don't do it. Find an alternative like the pill, nuvaring, the implant (looks like a grain of rice), or IUD.

I was on and off of it for years. I experienced significant weight gain, spotting for long periods of time, then no periods at all. I was on it for many years and Idk if that has affected my chances of having a baby or not. I've been trying for two years and unsuccessful. So I'd really think about it and ask your doctor a lot of questions about how it could affect your body in the future.

I had it once and the only bad side effect at first was spotting for me but then the 3 months I had no mood swings, no weight gain , nothing. I didn't go back for the second dose so that's where it messed me up at the end I had irregular periods for almost a whole year after . I guess make sure it's something you'll reall stick with, but to me I would definitely go back on depo ....because having to take a pill everyday I couldn't do and the pills used to give me the craziest mood swings ever along with hunger and fatigue

I was on it for awhile, but I was one of the lucky few that I lost weight instead of gaining. I had a good experience over all with it. After the second or third time my periods stopped until the week I was due to go back and get it ( cool right? Could never forget to go get it!) My bf at the time said it made me a bitch but I think it was just him! We had lots of problems. Anyways it did make me feel a little bad the first day getting it and the day after plus my arm was sore feeling ached. They tell you it could take upwards of six months to conceive once you stop taking it, that wasn't my case. I was supposed to get my next shot in sept (08) MC in Oct. Good luck!

I got pregnant A WEEK OR MAYBE TWO after being late on getting my second shot. I used to used depo previously and I just gained a little weight. But ☝🏾️ I don't trust that shit anymore! I'm currently 26 weeks and 1 day pregnant! Depo let me down man 😕
(But the father is my best friend and my boyfriend so I'm not in a shitty situation with a SHITTY guy)
