What is this??

Question

Anyone have any insight as to what this might be?? This is the best picture I could get with my crappy camera but it's a little redder than it looks in this photo.

Heres a little background: It's a spot on the front side of my thigh, a little larger than a quarter. It's hard to the touch.

About a week ago I noticed that the skin on the front side of my right thigh was sensitive to the touch. It was also cold and heat sensitive. I figured it was just a weird random thing happening to my body and let it go for a few days.. Well now this spot showed up in the same area, and while the skin sensitivity is better, the spot itself is painful to the touch and I've been getting random "jolts" of nerve pain in that thigh..

Anyone have any ideas? Should I see a doctor or just wait it out?

My brother had something like this, and it got to a point where the "rash" would have severe nerve pain wherever it was on his body, he went to the doctors and discovered he had shingles. Shingles is the secondary infection of the chicken pox virus. It's highly contagious and from what I understand is infecting the nerve strand under the skin affected with the rash causing the pain in the nerve. It can last weeks or months depending on the severity. I can't diagnose you, but just sharing my brothers experience. If it's hurting i would see a doctor as soon as you can. I would avoid touching it, touching others, having sexual activity, until a confirmed diagnosis. It may just be an allergic reaction or a skin condition but I'd still be extra cautious until you find out
