Has anyone else still not found a pediatrician?

I'm 39 weeks on Tuesday and still haven't found one....I have no time to have any "appointments" with any of them and it's getting difficult...I also don't know if she's covered under my insurance since I have state insurance. will they just assign one in the hospital if I don't have one? I'm stressed out so much

I have to apply for insurance after my babys born, then I figure the first pediatrician appointment ill pay out of pocket (like $100-150 which ill get reimbursed) and itll give me time to look for a pediatrician until she has health insurance

When I was looking for a pediatrician, I thought I had to call and ask if they could take him. The one I ultimately chose is part of a bigger group and when I asked what I needed to do to assign them as his pediatrician, they said just tell the hospital I want to choose them. Then one of their hospitalists will be had provider during his stay before he goes to the actual office. I figured it would be more complicated but I guess not. For the insurance, I think with you on state assistance, and if you aren't married, they will pick him up at birth too but I don't know for sure.

Oh my goodness... I didn't even think about this. 😑 do you just call in and request a pediatrician for your unborn baby?! Oh my gosh so much to do sometimes I get overwhelmed.

My kids pediatrician is retiring December just got the letter so on the hunt :(

At my hospital, the pediatrician that is on call is the first one to examine the baby. At around that time, you specify to the staff which pediatrician you would like to have on a permanent basis, and that doctor will stop by the hospital as soon as they can. Today I've actually been looking into the different doctors available to me and talking to family members who have used them- we live in a small community so it makes it much easier to narrow down the options to the best doctor for us!

I delivered unexpectedly early. They assigned the on-call pediatrician for her during her stay.
She's not covered under my insurance, she's on he fathers so we found a pediatrician after she was born. Now we have to send her bill from birth to his insurance to be paid.

Yep, but for me it's a little different because I'm a military spouse with prime care and that means I stay with on base providers.
