my birth story - 6th August 2016! UK Version.
I thought it was probably time to share my hella traumatic birth story!

At 37w 2days (7am August 4th) I began my induction, one 24hr pessary later I finally started feeling a few niggles, alas the pessart wasn't strong enough so they inserted 2 more 6hr pessaries. At this point I felt like a dog that wanted to nest, all I wanted was to be alone and to get on with my labour. However, in the U.K., until you're about 4cm dilated you're in a room with 5 other women. I felt like an absolute clown, with it being visiting time also, I felt like everyone was watching me while I was at my most vulnerable. Within 2 hours, I asked for some pethidine which managed to make me sleep for 3 hours. 5am on the 6th August they took me into the labour ward to break my waters. As I was diabetic they wouldn't allow me to eat or drink anything other than Powerade at this point due to the increased risk of c-section. At 10am they began a pitocin drip to get me going, unfortunately they turned it up too high and couldn't bring it back down so I was having one contraction behind the other with maybe a 20 second gap, without getting anywhere! I was exhausted and in agony by 2pm so I asked for an epidural. (which didn't work). I've never been so exhausted in my life, I didn't talk to my partner for the next 9 hours as I was so tired. All I could hear were the doctors telling me that the baby's heartbeat was dropping and I had to push her out ASAP. My sugar levels were hypoglycaemic, I couldn't manage it no matter how hard I tried. Finally at 10:39pm, I managed to push her head out and 30 seconds later at 10:40pm out came the rest.
My beautiful Elora Louise Day born 5lbs 9oz, 52cm long 💕 worth every bit of energy (however, l won't be doing it again!) 😂
