Rock n play... flat head?

Question

I registered for  a rock n play and got one for my baby shower. I'm a ftm, and recently read reviews about it causing flat head, and now I'm rather concerned. I was only planning on using it for naps during the day, but now I'm thinking I could exchange it for something else? Does anyone have experience in this?

Regardless of the equipment  (crib, bassinet, pack n' play, etc) your baby will get a flat head if they are on their backs for too long. As long as you give your little one significant tummy time you should be okay.

Babies can get flat head from any sleeping surface. Their heads are soft and they need to sleep on their backs.

For many, the rock and play is the only place the baby will sleep for a few months. I have my lo sleep on me a couple times a day and I think that helps with head shape

Our son slept in a R&P every night for almost the first three months of his life. He doesn't even have close to a flat head. I think it's genetics more than anything. Even if you put them in a crib or bassinet, they're still going to be lying on the backs of their heads. For us it was a lifesaver and we were all able to sleep so much better.

I don't think it matters what type of bed it is, my son sleeps in Moses basket and he has slight flat head, I give him tons of tummy time and he's barely on his head apart from when sleeping but he still has it 🙁

It's mostly because people leave baby in it for long periods of time regularly. My oldest only slept in his at night and we never had any flat head issues.

My daughter slept in hers for the first 3 months due to her having reflux issues. Newborns sleep on their backs, so rotating the baby from a swing or rock-n-play to sleeping on their side is a must. I had bought the "Nappy Noggin" it is an insert to use when you are supervising the baby.
