is induction easier when dilated?

I've got a couple days to being 40 weeks & considering I haven't had any serious contractions, I'm really feeling like I'm going to be induced. FTM here & was told I was about 3cm dilated already. As far as the induction process goes, do things go more smoothly when being already dilated some rather than being completely closed? What exactly happens when your being induced? My mother in law has told me to walk around but my body is just so tired all I want to do is lay in bed. I've gotten a membrane sweep and even that hasn't help with jump starting labor. I know the baby can come when you least expect it but being at home while the SO is at work, leave  not much else to dwell on. Due date: nov 2
