Preemie Experiences?

I wanted to write and get some insight, as I've been losing sleep recently. I have been getting some serious contractions all last night and this morning. They are coming 5-7 mins apart lasting just under 1 minute. I am only 27 weeks today and I finally gave in and went to L&D to get monitored and they were very concerned about the strength and consistency of the contractions, showing on the monitor. They watched for several hours and then did a cervical check. Thankfully, I showed NO dialation and my cervix was still long (3.5cm) anything below 3 is when they get concerned. But when my cervix was checked at my doctors appt on Thursday, it was 4.1 cm! So it moved .6 cm in 48 hours.... is that considered cervical change? They sent me home with some sleep aids to try and help me sleep (in hopes that real sleep will help relax those muscles) is this a sign that I will go early? I've had an impending feeling that this baby wasn't going to make it to Christmas, even though I am due Jan 29th.... but now it's freaking me out that it's becoming this already?! Did any of you ladies have contractions like these and still have a considerably full term baby? Or if it lead to deliver, how'd your baby do?
