UK mummies - do we get checked for dilation?

I'm a FMT and am 37.2weeks I have my 38 week checkup with the midwife next week but do they check to see if we've started dilating? Or is this an American thing? My consultant is talking about inducing at my 39 week checkcdue to having pregnancy related arthritis and I'd rather go naturally if possible.

Nope. Never with my first or with this one. Unless it depends on the midwife.

I've got my midwife appointment tomorrow and will be 39 weeks on Tuesday so om gonna see what she says as I'm not sure as I've heard of a sweep buy don't know if she will offer it at 40 or 41 weeks. In all honesty I wish she would tomorrow but I very doubt that haha. I'm in the UK too :)

I haven't been checked at all but my midwives offer sweeps at 39 weeks as long as suitableso I'm booked for one on Tuesday when I will be 39 + 4.

It may vary from place to place in the UK, at my hospital they don't do cervix checks until you're in labour or at your 41 week appointment they'll offer a stretch and sweep.  They only offer it earlier if you have issues that make them want to speed things up.

I am in America and I have only been checked once because I was having contractions. Other than that my dr has not checked for dilating or anything. He feels for his head by pressing on my belly and that is it. I have a scan and apt on Thursday and I will be 38+2, and I have not been told I will be checked. So it also could just be based on your dr here as well.
