Should I get my membranes stripped?

I am hoping to have a waterbirth. my ob is very low intervention and all for natural births. I never even considered getting my membranes stripped because I considered it an inervention and just never had the desire to. However, I am now 39 weeks and miserable- covered in PUPPS. Ob wants to strip membranes on Wednesday if I'm dialated. (Which I wasn't last Thursday :( ) She said it a very natural way to get labor going. Is this true? Is it horribly painful? I refuse to get induced (even though I reallyyyyyyy want to) because I'm so set on this natural birth.

It is uncomfortable but not horrible. It is a drug free way to help things along if your body is ready.

There is a  hance that watwr could break during sweep.  Then you won't be able to get in the tub still you are pretty far along due to possiblity of infection.

I suppose technically it's an intervention, but it's completely drug free. I consider it kind of along the lines of all the things women do at home to try to get labor started..just that you can't do it at home, your doctor has to do it. I'm a FTM and only 36 weeks, so no personal experience with it yet, but if it's an option for me I'll try it.
