Sore nipples before period?

Hi everyone! I recently stopped taking my birth control and about a week and a half/2 weeks before I got my period I had extremely sore nipples. I wasn't sure if this was due to my new bra which isn't as soft as my other ones or it was due to getting my period off of birth control. They aren't sore anymore but out of curiosity does anyone else experience bad nipple pain before their period?
