Do you believe that people with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce? I saw this question while taking a quiz on where I stand on the political compass, and wanted to know what everybody else on here thought

I think if it were me, I would not want to chance passing some horrible disease on to my child. To say that certain people should not be ALLOWED  to reproduce is going to far.

You know, hitler beleived in eugenics. Killing off inteletically disabled people to end their suffering and to release their souls.

Autistics (like me) always fight to stay in society. Not to get kicked out. Not to get pat on the head and to be appointed treatment guardens. We are human beings. American citizans, with full civil rights as the next person.

Just because we are born different does not mean we are worth less. We are americans. With our birth rights of this country. Who cares if we are intelectually disbled or autistic, or gay, or a woman of color.

We demand to be equal.

As a general rule I would say one's own concisence must be the guid, however, in welfare states public policy considerations must also come into play given the likelihood that the taxpayer will shoulder the majority of the burden. I don't really see what the issue is though. If the illness is so severe then the individual would be unlikely to be able to reproduce anyway. If they are merely carriers of the recessive gene then they will be able to give birth to perfectly healthy children by either selecting a partner who does not carry the gene or through Ivf or selective abortion to prevent any sick children being born.

I mean you can't take away the right for someone to reproduce. Should they morally? Probably not. 
If I develop a disease that is more than 70% going to be passed onto my kids, and it's going to render me useless or in severe pain, I wouldn't have kids. I want kids very much so, so I'd probably adopt:
