Measuring small?

I had a weekly check up today and my doctor said that she wants me to get an ultrasound next week because my stomach is measuring small. I'm 5'10" and she thinks it might be because I'm tall that the weight gets spread out I guess? She said she wanted to get the ultrasound to see if I needed to be induced. She said at the last ultrasound the baby was measuring at the 33rd percentile. It was one of those things where I didn't have questions of course until after she gave me all of this information. I can't figure out why she would want to induce me if the baby happened to be measuring small. Has this happened to anyone?

He could be wanting to induce you because your baby is no longer receiving nutrients from your placenta which is why baby might not be growing. But your height could totally be why you're small! My belly measures small also and I'm tall :)

Me too. I'm only 5'5", but my height is in my torso. I've measured behind with all my kids

I've been measuring small since 28 weeks, some weeks up to 3 weeks small.  I'm 5'8" with a long torso. Had a growth scan and all is well, Dr just thinks she lays more toward my back. Don't panic!

Same here. All along I was measuring on schedule. But I switched to a more experienced dr and she said I was measuring small at today's appt. (38 weeks exactly). I'm going for an ultrasound tomorrow to get a better estimate. She said the tape measure isn't always accurate.

Yes actually this just happned to me today. I'm 38 weeks and had an ultrasound Thursday due to decreased movements and they messured the baby by ultrasound and said she was measuring out to be 5lbs 9oz and In the 7th percentile so if I don't go into labor on my own they want to induce me Sunday or monday !

I've been measuring really small since 27 weeks. They diagnosed me with IUGR. look it up, so you know what it involves. Basically in case the place ta gives out tieards the end ofpregnancy and stops nurturing and protecting the baby as it did before, they wanna be on the look out. There can be other factors too. But what i notice is the biggest deciding factor for the docs is is the baby movement, fluid levels, and chord blood flow. If your baby is behind, it doesn't hurt to get monitored more frequently for the things above. Most likely it will all be just fine, but better to be vigilant. I was monitored 2-3x a week since 27 weeks, and now that i am at 38 weeks, gotta go in every day! But then again, my baby has fallen even more behind: used to be 10-14 days behind, now almost 3 weeks. Still growing but extremely slow! :(
But if the movements, fluid, and all the dopplers are good, the baby is still happy in there, so keeping it a bit longer.

How far along are you? I'm 37 weeks on Wednesday and when I went for my 36 weeks appointment last week I was also sent for a scan due to my baby dropping a centile line. Whilst my baby only dropped to the 50th centile (the average line) he had been measuring bigger then that so the midwife wanted to get it checked out. The sonographer did the scan and everything turn out to be fine thankfully but he did agree that my baby was measuring on the 50th centile line. Whilst I was there they measured baby's head circumference,abdominal circumference, leg length to make sure all those were in the expected area (they were/are) they also checked where the placenta is and make sure it still attached and measure how much fluid there is as both of these can affect the baby so if one these is cause for concern they may want to induce you to reduce the risk on yourself and the risk on your baby. If the baby is measuring small he or she may not be getting the nutrients they need so they would induce for the health of the baby.
