5 week old fights sleep
My 5 week old has never had a problem falling asleep or really staying asleep. By this I mean I nurse until he's drowsy and hold him until he nods off or rock and hold him until he's ready to lay down and staying asleep is 30 min - 2/3 hours at night.
The past two days he fights sleep the entire day and evening. When he finally closes his eyes and drifts off he lifts his head, opens his eyes and tries to wake himself up even if I'm holding him. Basic needs are met and he's not gassy. During the day he will only "nap" for 15 minutes. Once I finally get him to sleep at night he's great throughout and has no problem going back to sleep.
What else can I do to help my exhausted little man drift off? I've tried all I can think of aside from the basic fed, changed, burped: holding, rocking, shushing, white noise, dark room, rocking, walking, reading, gripe water, singing, whispering...
