anyone have experience with IUI??

Question

Saw my gyno today we were discussing what to do if my husband sperm count comes back not great since her had a vas reversal.  He mentioned sending me to a fertility specialist for possible iui.  How does this work and is it expensive?  Success rates?

With an IUI, you may be taking medication to help you grow and mature your eggs, you'll go in the office a few days (usually CD3,6,9-15) for blood work and ultrasounds to measure the development. You'll likely also be given a "trigger shot" that brings on ovulation when the eggs are ready. Then 36h after that, you'll come in the clinic and your partner will give a semen sample. The lab will process it to remove the sperm from the seminal fluid then these processed sperm, which should be highly motile, will be put into your uterus with a catheter (it should feel kinda like a PAP). This may be done only once or potentially two days in a row. Then you get the TWW and you will likely also be taking a progesterone supplement during the two weeks either orally or vaginally. Then after the two weeks, you'll come back for your pregnancy test!

I can't really speak to the cost, I'm actually a lab tech at a clinic and I process the sperm!
