I think my boyfriend has oral herpes.

I've been with my boyfriend almost 2 and a half years. I come home today and he has these blisters on one side of his lips. Really red and bubbly just on the top corner. My best friend as a kid had them "cold sores" so they look the same. But I don't know much about them. Or if regular blisters look the same. I asked him to talk to me but that hasn't worked out. We have been going through a rough patch but I'd never think he go that far. Is there a way to catch oral herpes from genital herpes or only from oral herpes? What's your honest advice? I could really use it!!
