That answer is going to be varied. Some people will say yes, others no, and some will say they felt a pinch or pressure. It's just gonna depend on how good your anesthesiologist is honestly

Contractions are wayyy worse and you only feel a pressure. Epidural saved my life haha best decision!

Since I'm terrified of needles, it hurt like shit. Worse than a regular shot. And the pressure was too much 😣 but it definitely helped 😁

Yes, hurts like hell not going to lie. But let me tell you one thing. I was in labor for 4 days (lost my daughter, had to induce, nothing was working) anyways, getting the epidural on the 3rd day was the best desicion I made and I wish I made it the first day!

Short answer: yes of course, afterall it's a big ass needle going in to your spine.
Also if you're in the U.K. They don't give the epidural in one full dose anymore, only a little bit at a time. You have a button you can press to release more every 5-10 mins. Also I had mine 45 mins before my baby was born and it didn't work, so all that pain with it for nothing. I'd say make sure you have it early if you know you're going to have it. I tried to wait as long as possible to see if I could do it myself. Good luck x

It didn't hurt me it felt like a light pinch. But where it has to go in is sort of a sensitive spot  for me and it was very hard for me not to twitch. You can't move when they insert it because there's the possibility of things going wrong and you can get paralyzed.

But once it's in all is well.

Yes yes yes. The initial little needle poke is fine, but getting it positioned right was torture. I was swearing so loud, just hated it. BUT once it was in and working I decided I would probably do it again with my next baby, despite the pain, as the relief from the constant contractions was great.

They should numb the area with a little shot before actually placing the catheter.... that shot feels like a pinch and bee sting.... wasn't to bad....

Trust me you will be in so much pain you wont even notice its been put in. You wont care you will just want that agonising pain gone and do whatever it takes to get it gone. My first i didnt feel what so ever my second was different i had it much earlier and did feel it but it wasn't a unbearable pain just uncomfortable slight pressure and like a electric shock going through your body when its started.
