If you kept getting negatives then I don't think it would be a miscarriage, especially if you were five weeks late. Could it just be a late period? (Could be due to lots of different reasons, which you should probably talk to your doctor about) I've had periods after really long cycles and this sort of thing has come out and it was just uterine tissue that hadn't broken down completely during menstruation.

Your OBGYN can send the tissue for a biopsy if you really need to know whether or not you were pregnant. That is the only positive way to know. However, I would think there would be more bleeding than just a small amount of tissue with a miscarriage? Prayers, though.
