Triggered but regular?

Question

I have a perfectly regular cycles, positive OPKs and positive progesterone tests. Meaning, I ovulate. 
My husband has low motility 
(high count and morphology)he is doing FertilAid and his numbers have improved 
My doctor wants to do an ovulation stimulating medication, a trigger shot and an IUI. 
My question is why?
Why does my ovulation need to be triggered ?

Your dr may want to try and help you increase your chances but if you already ovulate regularly and on your own any fertility meds for you can cause cysts to form on your ovaries and work against you. Unless you feel the need to try iui you don't need to take the meds. If you feel, even with him taking fertiliaid, you'd like to try a few cycles before iui tell your dr. Fertility treatments can get pricey and unfortunately they don't always work on the first or even second cycle.

The IUI part makes sense, if your husbands boys don't swim like they should. I can see how getting them as close as possible would be beneficial. I don't understand the trigger shot thing. That requires multiple ultrasounds and a lot of nonsense. It sounds like maybe your doctor is  trying to upsell you.
