It might be break through bleeding/spotting. Especially if its your first time taking the pills. Spotting when starting the pills is normal, my doctor calls it "break through bleeding". It is your body getting used to the hormones. I have gone on pills, off then started again. When I started up the second time my doctor told me to use condoms for the first two weeks. I think it depends, my pharmacist told me to wait two months. I would suggest using some other method of protection along with it for now and the early bleeding is probably just break through bleeding!

The pill takes 7 days to take effect but if you start it within 5 days of your period (according to my OBGYN) you are protected right away.
