Prenup?

My boyfriend is like DECLARING one. I just feel like if we are building together from nothing I shouldn't have to sign one. We both didn't have anything when we met, and now we have more than we need. He says its to save his ass. I mean I love him, I will sign one it doesn't matter about money to me, I love him for him. I'm just wondering what are yalls thoughts on it?

If you two are building together then you're bringing to the table too I presume. I would fight fire with fire. Have him sign one as well that way you feel comfortable. No one should plan for something like that but if it's mandatory for him, watch your back and make sure you have that same safe net, good luck

Depends on what we are talking asset and money wise.  If his family has money then it's to protect that and I would have no problem signing it.

But if it's for stuff we accumulated together over time....including a bank account well I would laugh in his face.

I wouldn't sign one if you both had nothing before you got together. It would be different if he had a lot before. But him saying it's to save his ass is being an ass- since he had nothing before!

It is ultimately your choice but I personally wouldn't do it in this situation

First thing first. He is your boyfriend, not your husband. I would laugh in his face-- why would he want a prenup, is he from a family of a lot of money? Otherwise, not needed

I personally could never be with a guy like that...Especially if we built everything up together. Luckily my fiance isn't pulling that card with me. If you love him and feel okay signing one, then that's your choice of course!

I personally think it's a set up for failure. I get it for someone worth a fortune that meets someone with who knows what intentions but you both are making a successful life together.. seems sketchy to me.
