due dates
Ok. So I think Due dates should be abolished. Due dates are a total guess and only about 4% of babies are born on their due date. 80% of babies are born within the 2 weeks before and after. The problem with due dates is we get glued to it and are pushed to unnecessary interventions just because. We get worried, anxious, and depressed when our due date comes and goes.
I feel like they should change it to "You're due the first half of the month or the second half". I'm speaking as a nurse and now as a public health nurse who works with pregnant and new moms. To many doctors are quick to induce and c-section women increasing complications. What's wrong with letting them come when they are ready??? P.s. I know some situations require intervention due to medical reasons but those who honestly need it are few and far between. Plus, the risk of SIDS lowers when babies come on their own. Ok, I'm done 😊
