What to expect from an Abortion

Question

I was 2 weeks late for my period, so I took a pregnancy test. I took another a week later and it was positive. Then two more, also positive.

I can't have a baby at this point in my life, and I am planning on calling the nearest planned parenthood that offers abortion services tomorrow and setting up an appt.

I'm really sad about having to do this, but my boyfriend and I don't make much money and we're both in college. I feel like doing this is disrespectful to all the women who would cut off their own legs for a baby, but this is the choice I am making :(

What should I expect at planned parenthood? Has anyone done this before? Is that my only option for an abortion, or are there other places?

First off, I'm sorry you have to go through with this. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision. I'm terribly sorry, love😞 You will get lots of mean and hateful comments from pro-lifers. I recently took one of my best friends to a Planned Parenthood to get a Pap smear and the entire staff was super friendly. And if you can't afford your procedure, the can work something out with your insurance or set up a payment plan. Good luck, love. And remember, your body, your choice. Your body is your body. Just because some women have issues concerning does not mean you have to feel bad or base decisions off them. I also would like to inform you about open adoption if this is something you do not want to do, but it's also a way of staying in the baby's. It's just a suggestion and I mean no offense and am not in any way trying to sway you from your decision. Just some women aren't entirely informed and feel abortion is the only way out. I wish you the best of luck in your journey, sweetie. I would call Planned Parenthood and ask them for the run down and ask if they are the only option. I've never had one myself, but I've had two miscarriages. I know if you go soon enough, they'll give you a pill to basically cause everything to exit your body. This pill basically runs along the same lines as how a miscarriage feels so I can answer what that feels like.

When I had a miscarriage, I always got minor pain in the beginning and some spotting. Not long after I would get major abdominal pain that felt like a mixture of an insane gas bubble and cramping of a period. Your body is basically in labor early so it has similar things. You'll bleed a lot, but watch how much you bleed for a while because if you bleed too much you have to go to the doctor. It'll slow down and you'll bleed for a couple weeks.

Now that's the physical stuff... unfortunately it's common in both cases to feel depression, so make sure you have people around that you can talk to about it. You'll feel better to have someone to help you through it.

I know it's probably hard, but try not to feel guilty. This is the decision that's right for you. There are a lot of children up for adoption for women who can't have their own children. Everyone has their own lives and you getting an abortion isn't going to harm anyone else. It would cause more harm not to do it! Much love and good luck ❤️

I've recently had an abortion and I know it's a hard decision to make. I'm here to support you and help as best I can.

If you're having the medication abortion, be prepared for An Experience. You will take a second series of pills at home which will essentially induce labor to clear the fetus from your uterus (the pills they give you the day of will end its development). It was the WORST pain I've ever experienced in my life. Even with opiate pain killers, I was squirming and dying.

If your pain is very bad, soak yourself in a warm bath. Rest assured your tub can be rinsed out and you can be rinsed off, it'll be a lifesaver to have that heat. Make sure someone who cares about you is with you, you'll essentially be useless and paralyzed the rest of the day. Do NOT use cold for any of your pain, it will only make things worse. I took my painkillers and I was blacking out from pain and waking up confused and scared, you need someone there to reassure you. Be prepared for bleeding like a crime scene, it's an unfortunate effect. Be prepared for possibly large blood clots, it will be uncomfortable. I'm so sorry you have to do this, I wish only the best for you and for support and caring during this hard time.

Sure pro life people will try and talk you out of it, but they aren't the ones who would end up with the baby, taking care of the baby, financial for the baby,, etc

Stop explaining yourself to people, stop trying to justify your rights. It's YOUR decision, it's YOUR life. It's not their decisions to make, if they don't like your form of decision, flick that off your shoulder. You just make sure you are 100% sure and now use this as a learning example. Use contraceptives: more than one if you must, take extra precaution when having sex.

I know you didn't post this for people to talk you out of it...but I feel that you would regret the decision of abortion for the rest of your life. I don't think there would be a day you wouldn't think about this baby...the life they could've had and the person they could've grown up to be. I know you're in a tight spot right now, but I encourage you to think about the future for your baby. There is always the option for adoption if you can't provide the life you want for your baby at this point in your life. I would advise you to talk with your boyfriend about want you both want and what is best for you and your baby (if you haven't already done so). Whatever you decide, whether to proceed with the abortion or reconsider your options, make sure you don't regret this decision for the rest of your life.
