does the ovulation test theory work?

Has anyone gotten a positive on an ovulation test before a pregnancy test? I've seen people do this theory, that the ovulation test can detect a positive results before a hpt. I'm just curious.

I get a positive opk before AF about 50% of the time.  The cycle I got a bfp was not one of them. I don't think that OPKs for pregnancy testing is trustworthy.

Ovulation tests do pick up the HCG hormone but you will get a positive pregnancy test before a positive ovulation test because the pregnancy tests are more sensitive and are actually made to detect the HCG hormone

Yes, but you shouldn't go by that. LH and HCG are so similar. Also, right before AF, some women get a second LH surge, so don't get your hopes up thinking that it's HCG. Use the correct test to be sure.
