Frustrated... Anyone military?

Bc of my last period the doctor is estimating me at around 8w5d today. I have not gotten my first US yet bc they won't do it until I'm at least 10 weeks. I'm on high risk bc I have panic attics. I have had two since finding out I was pregnant and I've called my doctor and all they did was send me to talk to a therapist. I get why they did that however now I'm worried about my pregnancy. My husband is military so they don't do a lot of things that my cilivan doctor did when I was pregnant with my son. Thinking about switching back to a cilivan doctor just till I have the baby but afraid it may coast to much. Any one military and familiar with how the insurance would work as far as how much I could end up paying?

My husband is military. We have Tricare prime but aren't on a base. So my primary sent a referral to the OBGYN and I'm going at 7 weeks. I don't remember them asking me how far I am but they called back to have me come in earlier so they have time for an US. Who knows?!

My husband is military. Where we are stationed we don't have a base clinic for civilians so we have to see civilian Drs. We get the refferal from our primary care dr and then we basically can see any in network dr and they pay for it as if it were a regular base dr. I do understand your frustration of not being able to get in earlier though. I had a miscarriage November 10th and never had AF and found out a few days before Christmas I'm pregnant again already. And my primary dr urged me to get in as soon as possible but my Drs office won't let me go in any sooner because Tricare even after I explained the entire thing to them.

You can switch to Standard and see off base dr's without a referral. I would suggest that so but you still have to follow the benefit rules. Civilian dr's will do things differently and still within your benefits.

We are military overseas. The first appt I actually have is at 11 weeks and I have to drive to a base that is 90 min away.

I have tricare prime and I picked my doctor and the OB I wanted. I already had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks. I've had no issues with tricare.

Be grateful you're stateside, we're in Guam and there's on naval hospital  and it's been a battle to even get seen by an OB. Here, there's too many preggos and not enough OBs. So they make you see your regular doc unless you become high risk; then you can transfer to OB. I fought them on that asking to see where in the command instruction it states I cannot be seen by ob UNLESS I'm high risk. Finally got my way and got my OB referral. I went to the pregnancy orientation, got my purple book, urine and blood work done at 8 weeks. I go in for my first ultrasound at 10 weeks, FINALLY. I guess that's normal for military but I still would rather get one sooner to calm my nerves as I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms except breast tenderness. If I were stateside I'd forego all this stuff and find a great civilian doc.

I'm military and so is my SO . I'm 9 weeks today , and I've already had 2 US to get my EDD ( first was at 6w and couldn't determine it yet ) because I was uncertain about my last cycle . I don't understand how they can deny you if you're high risk . I would talk to someone in charge about that . best wishes for you !

I worked for a hospital that was in network with tricare so we were a civilian practice but accepted tricare....find out if there are any hospitals in the area that are the same, then see an OB office affiliated with it. Crossing my fingers for you.

This is why I'm tricare standard. I go off post for all my needs (in South Korea). I pay 20% out of pocket which isn't a lot at all (like $30 or less). However, if you fear for your pregnancy I would demand that they see you or get you a referral to off post. If they say no, take it up with the head of the medic center. They're technically refusing treatment to a high risk patient.

I can't even start with my frustration towards Tri Care.... I think I'm switching to standard throughout this pregnancy so that I can pick my doctor. I heard that the co-pay is generally $25 an appointment and you pay a percentage of each bill.
