Opinions on ParaGard?

Question

I have an appointment to get a ParaGard in a couple weeks. Has anyone gotten one that can share information and experiences with me? 
I just want to get off of hormonal birth control and no other methods are effective enough for me to be comfortable with since I'm only 20 and do not want children anytime soon.

I've had the ParaGard twice. The first time for about 2 1/2 years and had no problems with it at all. The second time I had it for about 8 months after my son was born,  before my body started to reject it. Turns out it had slipped down into my cervix (no idea when as I could still feel my strings the same) and because they have no hormones they are pretty my ineffective if not in the right place. I had it taken out and was going to get a new one but they couldn't get the new one in. Turns out that my body knew something at that time that I didn't. I was about 4 weeks pregnant when all that happened. I found out a couple of weeks later. Thankfully he is completely healthy, 11 days old today. My advice though is to have routine checks by the Dr for the first several months and continue to do the string checks often. I am currently trying to decide on bc and am thinking about trying the Mirena because with the hormones in it, even if it does slip I should be covered. Overall I have positive things to say about the ParaGard, just make sure it stays in the right place or you can end up with one of these! 😂

Had it for 2.5 years then removed it because of ongoing discomfort then menstrual cycles started to be to painful had it removed decided to complete my family and after removal still suffered pain now having trouble conceiving it caused my uterus to enlarge NEVER WILL I GET THIS AGAIN!!!!
