heavy bleeding after Pap smear

I just went 2 days ago for my 6 week check up and had my Pap smear done. I had started spotting the day before I went in but nothing too serious. After my Pap smear I'm filling pads almost every hour, I woke up today to my pad filled, my pants dirty and my shirt. And I just went to the bathroom again and when I pulled my shorts down blood fell all over the floor. I've never experienced this before with any other periods or after any Pap smears. I'm getting concerned. Is this normal?
