Should a 16 year old be allowed to get her bellybutton pierced?

My little sister has been asking our parents to let her get her bellybutton pierced for her sixteenth birthday and I honestly don't see a problem with it. my mom feels the same as me. it's our dad who is just completely against it. he said that they look "too slutty" and that there's no point for one at her age and he won't listen when she says she wants it because she likes the way it looks. i don't know why my dad's so against it. what do you guys think? should a sixteen year old be allowed to get her belly button pierced?

Your dad shouldn't be finding his 16 year old daughter sexy or subsequently "slutty". Its not his body anyways, it's hers. He views her as his, that we body isn't her own. I say fuck him and get it anyways. You can always take it out.

I know it's a dad thing but I just don't understand how a belly button piercing makes one 'slutty'. Like I just don't get the connection lol. But that's the way most parents think unfortunately.

Absolutely. I had mine done at 14, industrial at 15 and Monroe at 15. My mom made me pay for it but gave me free reign.

I got mine done when I was 14 because I got high honors each quarter in school lol. my reward is a new piercing and soon it'll be piercing or tattoo (i'm turning 16 and you can get a tattoo in conneticut if your parents consent) which i'm excuted about!

My parents wouldn't let me get mine done. They kept telling me if I did they would disown me but I got it when I was 17 and now I have 14 piercings and three tattoos and they have yet to disown me. (Btw my mom and dad both have tattoos and my mom had her belly button pierced)

I got mine done at 15, then again at 16, and once more at 17. (I had to take it out twice for medical reasons.) My dad took me every time (he was the only parent/guardian I had growing up, because my mom left when I was 5 and we never saw her again) and the only thing he ever said about it was that the piercer did a good job, because it was straight and symmetrical with my belly button.

I know everybody's parents are different, but I honesty can't understand how a father would look at his daughter and think she is slutty because of a piercing. It's just metal in your skin. But that is entirely my opinion.
