Needing to vent here!

I seriously almost hit a child with my car pulling in to my development. And before people comment negative things about my driving let me inform you the whole situation. My development only has one entrance and exit to the main Street which is a semi busy street depending on the day of the week. I have lived here for many years and there are many kids in the development. The speed limit is 20mph, and I always drive at the most 10mph, especially if I have my dogs in the car. Turning right into the development is a kind of sharp turn, so I make sure to slow down A LOT when turning in, especially since the main road speed limit is 45mph. I have my 2 dogs in the car with me and I'm getting ready to pull in to the development and there's a kid RIGHT THERE WHERE CARS PULL IN PLAYING IN THE STREET. And I couldn't see him from turning because the turn is sharp. Had I been turning from the other direction it would have been a different story. So I slam on my breaks, my dog is crying because he hit the back of my seat, and I hit my horn. Seriously wanted to find that kids parents. But I didn't. I know that sometimes kids do things without their parents knowledge. I'm just pissed about it because there are like 4 fields of grass in the neighborhood that he could have played on, why play right where cars are pulling in? I have seen so many cars screeching into the development without a care in the world and had it been one of them, that kid would've gotten run over without a doubt. Sorry for the rant but it really scared the shit out of me.
